Churches in the Archdiocese of Dublin introduce ‘tap and go’ option for cashless donation

According to a report in the Business Post, the Archdiocese of Dublin has partnered with the Californian company Clover and AIB to install contactless tap and go machines in churches across the diocese.

Tap-and-donate devices are being installed in churches across the 197 parishes in the Archdiocese and the east of the country to make it more convenient for parishioners to donate to church collections and move donations into the cashless era.

In the report, Declan McSweeney, general manager of the Archdiocese of Dublin, highlighted the drop in cash donations over the course of the pandemic. He said, “Tap and go, which people are using everywhere else in their lives, became imperative” to combat this drop in Church income.

The tap and go machines have been installed in 60 parishes across the Archdiocese of Dublin, with 100 parishes being the target ahead of Christmas. The Archdiocese plans to have all parishes tap and go compatible next year.
